Elizabeth "Dawn" Martin

Chief Executive Officer | CAS

Since 2011, my staff and I have facilitated the recovery and maintenance of over 5,000 clients. We recently purchased a new facility in Colorado Springs, and are excited to have all our services under one roof. I empower my staff to take on roles that fit their strengths and career ambitions—most of my staff take responsibility to develop and manage their own specialty area or programs.

Our strength is in our team, and I try to give every team member the opportunity to add value to their career in their own unique way. The sky is the limit here—we are constantly building new programs and seeking grant funding to support our capabilities and service offerings for our clients.

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated substance abuse counselors to help provide direction and support for our clients. In this role you will be responsible for developing treatment plans and identifying behaviors that impede rehabilitation. You may also be required to facilitate individual and group therapy sessions.

It feels good knowing that your work makes a difference. I’m the type of person who’s up for an adventure and enjoys something new every day. With counseling, I’m always growing and learning about both myself and others. Each day brings something different, and each client provides me with a new perspective.

I entered the mental health field to share hope and healing with others that are on their own personal path to wholeness. I am honored with the opportunity to come alongside people as they navigate through this journey called life.

I entered the mental health field because I recognized the need for populations that are largely underserved and marginalized in our society. I wanted to be an agent for change and appreciate that clients allow me to hold space for them. I see the therapeutic relationship as walking a road together for a time, guiding clients into self-empowerment and their journey in recovery.

My decision to become a counselor was deeply personal and rooted in both my own experiences with mental health challenges and witnessing their impact on loved ones and communities. Coming from a background where mental health and substance use concerns were rarely discussed—and often viewed as taboo—I saw firsthand the barriers to support and the silence that surrounds these struggles. These experiences inspired me to pursue a career where I could not only advocate for greater awareness and access to care but also connect with others on a deeply human level. My own journey with trauma and healing allows me to bring empathy, authenticity, and a sense of shared understanding into the therapeutic space.

I entered the field after noticing areas of improvement needed in the system in hopes to bridge the gaps in care in various areas of therapy and community services. Best part of my job is steadily seeing others become the best version of themselves.

I’ve been in the mental health field for 15 years. I spent the first 10 working in a youth residential facility, followed by 5 years in an outpatient IOP setting. I recently relocated from Denver after buying a home in Colorado Springs. I’m big on outdoor activities and staying active. Fishing, camping, and hiking with my wife are a few of my go-to’s. My drive to work in this field comes from personal experience. I lost my brother to a fentanyl overdose and a close friend to alcohol addiction. Their stories fuel my commitment to helping others.

I believe all people are built differently, deserve respect and deserve to be heard. I am empathetic and have worked with various backgrounds, cultures and mental health for over 15 years, and now I am happily working in addictions at Recovery Unlimited. I am certified in DBT, and an eclectic therapist; for the most effective treatment that I utilize, I address my client’s unique individual needs and match them with the therapy that works for them. I am my authentic self and believe my clients should feel safe to do the same. I carefully listen and support my clients in processing events of the past, dealing with the present and looking towards a rich and meaningful life.

I have been in this field for 3 years now – Experiencing this role through various different work environments and opportunities. I came into this field to help motivate and empower others into finding their own autonomy, all while helping remove the stigma associated with addiction and mental health. I love being the little “push” people need to get back on track and realize there is a life worth living outside the barriers of addiction.
